Editorial standards
How Chicken Geek decides what to recommend, how we handle corrections, and the line between our editorial work and our affiliate income.

Independence
No brand pays for a placement, an award or a position in a comparison table on this site. We do not accept sponsored reviews, and no manufacturer sees a guide before it is published. Our affiliate income does not change which product wins a category: the same link structure applies to the cheapest pick and the most expensive one.
Evidence and claims
Every specification in a guide is taken from the live retailer listing at the date shown on the page. Where a manufacturer claim and the listed specification disagree, we use the specification and say so. Where a product has not been tested by us, the review says "research based, not hands-on" above the buy button.
We do not publish invented ratings, invented review counts, invented prices or invented test results, and our structured data never contains a claim that is not visible on the page.
Drawbacks
Every product review on this site contains at least one drawback that could genuinely change your decision. We do not accept filler such as "not for everyone" or "could be cheaper". If we cannot name a real limitation, the product does not go in the guide.
Who writes and who checks
Guides are written by a named author with stated experience and checked by a second person before publication. The fact checker's job is to remove claims, not to add them. Both names appear on the article.
Updates and corrections
- Prices and retailer links are rechecked on a rolling schedule and the check date is shown next to every price.
- Guides are reviewed in full at least once every twelve months, and sooner when a product is discontinued or revised.
- Substantive corrections are dated on the page rather than quietly edited out.
Prices
Prices move constantly on Amazon. We show an approximate figure with the date we checked it, and the buy button always sends you to the live listing for the current price. Never treat a price on this page as the price you will pay.
